Club Guy & Roni invites Dunja Jocic / Kwame Asafo-adjei
Club Guy & Roni Invites put large (international) talent in the spotlights in the small room.
Dunja Jocic was part of the Ensemble of Club Guy & Roni, but is now independent choreographer and filmmaker. She received various awards, O.A. The price of the Dutch Dance Days, BNG Bank dance price and a nomination for the ‘swan’ (most impressive dance performance). In collaboration with a workwriter of the North Dutch Theater Rik van den Bos, Jocic is looking for the essence of what our identity determines – is that our soul, or our body? In a near future, a body will be uploaded a new soul. This creates a struggle between dance and text and between who owns the new creature.
In his work, the British choreographer Kwame Asafo-Adjei combines contemporary dance and hip-hop with his Ghanaian descent, leading to a very private, unique movement language. Asafo won the unique XL Production Award of the RIDCC in 2019. RIDCC is the most important international duet competition for choreography talent, with a wide production budget as the main price to make a new performance. Club Guy & Roni, proud partner of this competition, accompanied Asafo in making that production, with this performance, Lubeck, as a result. In the middle of a pandemic a young man holds a man’s grip to what he has lost and what has value for him.
