Please note: updated meeting point! Due to construction work the meeting point is now the red and white signpost directly in front of the Central Station entrance/exist.
Of interest both to locals in Amsterdam and visitors from the rest of the country: we’re going for an ‘Amsterdam Iconic Café Terrace Crawl’ on August 14th.
Starting from the Amsterdam Central Station at 2PM (arrivals from 1.45, we will leave at 2PM), we’re going for a walk circling outside the ‘grachtengordel’ of Amsterdam through famous 19th century-ish neighbourhoods such as Weesperbuurt, De Pijp, Museumkwartier en Oud West. To keep things light, the city walk is combined with regular stops at iconic café-terraces such as Plantage (near Hortus and Artis), Blauw Theehuis (Vondelpark) and ending up in a hopefully blazing sunset in the Westergas terrace (Westerpark). This is NOT a sports event – although it’s some 3 hours of walking in total in between the stops (approximately 10 km). You can join for some or all of the way!
After the final stop, you can either continue to the nearby Central Station or join up for the optional al fresco group dinner at one of the nearby restaurant terraces. With your RSVP please send a message to reserve a spot at the table if you want to come along for the dinner.
All purchases at cafes and restaurants are at your own expense.
Obviously this event needs good weather, if the weather is not suitable we’ll postpone.
