This time we will stay closer to Amsterdam: the walk is between Weesp and Abcoude – a total of 14,2 km. Both start and end points are NS train stations.
From the NS website:
“Between Abcoude and Weesp lies a typical Dutch landscape of green meadows, winding rivers, mills and stately country houses.
“Via the Gein you first walk to Fort Nigtevecht, part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. This old defense line is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is unique in the world. The fortress, used as a rest and memorial site, is idyllically hidden in the greenery.
“A little further on you cross the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal via a spectacular pedestrian and bicycle bridge. On the other side is Nigtevecht, a quiet village with a marina, drawbridge, old village church and numerous monumental houses. Via the Vecht and the ancient Aetsveldsche Polder you reach the cozy city center of Weesp.
The route is 85% paved, but is mainly on car-free asphalt roads.”
There is no dress code or other limitations for this event.
