Bike tour “Den Dolder- Ede/Wageningen” (62 km)

Hello Bikers,
even if it is still a bit cold, I propose to the “bravest bike-lovers” a day out through the nature and some cultural highlights.

The tour starts from Den Dolder train station and ends at the train station of Ede/Wageningen.
We wiil cycle over the old runways of the F16s at the former Soesterberg airport, then we will pass by the Austerlitz’ Pyramid (a 36-metre-high pyramid, built in 1804 by Napoleon’s soldiers. Atop the pyramid is a stone obelisk from 1894). Unfortunately, it will be closed the day of the tour, but we will try to see as much as possible.
We will cycle close to a few tumuli (grafheuvels in Dutch – mounds of earth and stones raised over a grave or graves).
A lot of nature with some hills and a few villages with their Catholic or Reformed Churches will be along the route as well.

Bring your own bike on the train (supplement of €7.50 needed).
I strongly recommend to use a bike with gears, especially if you are not an experienced biker.
We will have packed lunch somewhere on the way. Bring some sandwiches or your favourite food and enough water.
In the afternoon, we will stop along the way for a coffee or a warm drink.

After the tour we may relax with a drink in the centre of Ede, before heading back home from Ede/Wageningen train station. You can also leave just after ride, if you prefer.

Last, but not least! Dutch weather is unpredictable and, if the weather forecasts are not good enough, I will cancel this meetup.

Looking forward to meet you and cycle together!
Giovanni

• Important:
A rsvp is a confirmation of your presence. When you rsvp’ed you are expected to come. If you can’t make it after all, please un-rsvp so we know who to expect an know when we are complete.
It’s recommended to buy your ticket upfront online. That way we won’t have to wait in line and have a good chance of sitting together.

Please keep an eye on the meetup e-mail and push notifications to keep posted on changes and other information or check the meetup app regularly. Also please use a profile picture that shows the real you. It’s easier for us to recognize each other and helps feeling safe.

It is the first major exhibition on the archaeology of Cyprus to be shown in the Netherlands.

VR party

Join us in venturing into worlds beyond our mundane every-day reality.
This event is intended for people who have never experienced interactive VR – so if you have never touched a headset before or you have used some mobile headset. Now you get to navigate, explore and interact in the virtual world.

The intent is to allow everybody an adequate time to experience VR so the calculation is that everybody can get a total of 30+ minutes in 3 different rounds:

1. A short intro experience that demonstrates what VR is and how to interact with the virtual world.
2. A song or two in Beat Saber, the most popular VR game.
3.A “main experience” of choice:

-> SkyrimVR
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ4rntT7t2w
Fight enemies with magic (Palpatine style) or archery. Or if you are a Skyrim fan – see what it feels like to inhabit this world yourself.

-> Lone Echo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pmV2mwAV9k
A sci-fi experience where you navigate in zero gravity and fix problems with the space station mining the rings of Saturn. There is no fighting in this one.

-> Robo Recall
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKQo6n4zpl0
A futuristic game where you shoot rogue robots.

The limit of this meetup is 7 participants because VR takes actual space and in order to allow an adequate time for everybody to experience VR in a proper way.
If there is interest there will be further similar events in the next weeks.
You can join this event only if you have attended previous group meetups.

The event is free of charge but there will be no free food or drinks. We will organize a visit to the nearby AH before it starts.

ABOUT EXHIBIT

https://www.beeldenaanzee.nl/en/niki-de-saint-phalle

Who is not familiar with Nana, the world-famous, colorful women figures who happily go about dancing and jumping as pure expressions of energy. Nana is timeless. But who or what does Nana represent, really? It is Niki De Saint Phalle’s personal version of Eve? Or maybe of Venus? Or is it actually a personal interpretation of all women in the world, past and present? With Nana, Niki De Saint Phalle has, in any case, created an iconic image of women.

Museum Beelden aan Zee has been showing the Nanas in all their diversity since 1965. From the early textile-covered figures of papier maché to the sometimes huge polyester sculptures from the later years. Nanas, in short, come in all shapes, colors, sizes and materials.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Leendert-Jan

See the world of drag with me on this visit to the Drag Power exhibition at CODA Museum in Apeldoorn.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Imposing, eccentric and extravagant are words that you often think of with drag queens. More and more often drags are the topic of conversation; RuPaul’s Drag Race made drag known worldwide. But what does drag (dressed resembling a girl) actually stand for? Is it a game of dressing up, appearance and pleasure? Or is there more to it? The exhibition ‘Drag Power – Gender, Pride & Glamour’ shows the exuberant gears, but above all shows what is behind the sequins and under the wig.

The exhibition features Andy Warhol’s series of work ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’. The title itself refers to the gender duality the drag queens embody. Each portrait maintains the gender ambiguity of its subject and shows them as confident, coy, and vulnerable.

Drag Power also showcases the personal stories of five drags active in the Netherlands. It’s about their background, the various reasons for starting drag and their experiences. It features the queens Jennifer Hopelezz, Lady Galore, Licka Lolly and ChelseaBoy plus drag king Mason Tonight.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM
