Who’s up for some recreational cycling? On Saturday July 31 we’ll be crossing the border to Belgium to visit the Postel Abbey.
The bike ride is about 50-60 km round trip. It’s an easy paced non-competitive cycle so you don’t need a fancy bike to join in.
At Postel we will explore the abbey with the famous Postel beer and cheese and check out the Frietstraat for an ice cream, bag of real Belgium fries or a juicy hot dog.
We will meet up in front of Verhoeven Hoorcomfort, Provincialeweg 55 in Veldhoven at 14:00.
ABOUT POSTEL ABBEY
The Postel Abbey is a Premonstratensian abbey in the Belgian municipality of Mol, close to the Dutch border. The Norbertine monks have been living and working in the area from the twelfth century on, always honouring their tradition of hospitality. They practised forestry, agriculture and cattle breeding, and since 1994, the monks have also exploited a botanical garden of medicinal plants.
In order to support themselves they brewed beer and made cheese. These activities have now grown into a true artisan industry, attracting many visitors.
While on the road we adhere to cycling safety, treating each other with respect and observing the rules of the road.
Be mindful of your own and other people’s protection and feeling of safety and comfort in these pandemic times. Do you or one of your household members have cold symptoms, shortness of breath and/or elevated temperature? Do NOT join the event, avoid social contacts and get tested.
