King’s Day On The Couch

King’s Day On The Couch

King’s Day will be totally different this year. It will take place at your own home, on your own couch. But it’s for sure a special one, also because The Royal Family will celebrate the day in Eindhoven!

The King’s visit to our city can be followed live on 27 April from about 11:00 to 13:00. We can watch the online program together. Just hop on to Zoom to have a look, a coffee, and a chat.

Don’t forget to wear something orange to get in the spirit. And for those of you with a sweet tooth: no King’s Day is complete without a tompouce, a sweet pastry loaded with cream. They are decorated with orange icing especially. So grab one and get ready for the digital celebrations this year.

To join in you will need to be able to use Zoom video conferencing. Zoom is available as an app for both mobile and desktop users. You can also connect directly from a web browser.

The meeting ID / link is visible to people who RSVP.

King’s Day (or Koningsdag) is a national holiday in the Netherlands. It is celebrated on 27 April, the birthday of King Willem-Alexander. Orange is the ultimate colour worn on the day as it is closely related to the Dutch royal family: the House of Orange-Nassau.

Usually there are plenty of activities to choose from on 27 April. From huge open-air dance events to small concerts in neighbourhood cafes, the traditional flea markets all across town and just plain old partying everywhere. Every year members of the Royal House visit designated municipalities to celebrate the day together.

In 2021 the King is coming to Eindhoven, where creativity and technical ingenuity go hand in hand. Eindhoven provides a unique program for a wide audience that fits within the applicable measures during COVID times. So, a perfect digital match!
